Radio Legend Hal Jackson Celebrated at Community Event

What's The 411 captured The Positive Community Magazine's festive celebration saluting, Hal Jackson, the legendary 97-year-old radio pioneer.

The video features an interview with Mr. Jackson against the backdrop of booming music; as well as those extolling Mr. Jackson's great contributions to our community.

Mr. Jackson, the founder of the Talented Teens program, explained that throughout his life, he received great joy in helping those who wished to put their dreams into action.

The event organized by Adrian Council, The Positive Community Magazine Founder and Publisher; and Stacie N.C. Grant, Empowerment Specialist & Event Strategist; was held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, which is led by Reverend Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood.

Featuring the sounds of WBLS-FM Radio DJ, Dr. Bob Lee, the dance party was practically nonstop especially when Soul Line Dance Guru Kenny J and his crew took to floor.

Readvolution at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church

VIDEO: Reading and storytelling to make a difference in the lives of children

On a cold wintry Saturday morning, there was a ReadVolution going on at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and the George H. Murray Preparatory Academy in Brooklyn, NY, where members of the Brooklyn community came together to read to children.

Reverend Kirby Spivey III, Summer Spivey, Mary Brooks, and Tammy Hall discussed why reading to children at an early age is important. The video also features young kids discussing their favorite books, and in some cases, their favorite book was their first book.

Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church is led by Reverend Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood.
