Jim Carrey plans to defend himself against the wrongful death and STD complaint filed by the family of his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White

Comedian Jim Carrey is not giving in to the legal complaints brought by the family of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White. The mother, Brigid Sweetman, and Mark Burton, the estranged husband of Ms. White contend that Carrey had illegally obtained “highly addictive and, in this case, deadly” drugs under the name Arthur King, which Ms. White used to take her own life and which Carrey provided to her despite knowing that she had struggled with depression and attempted suicide in the past.

Additionally, a note to Carrey from his deceased girlfriend, Cat White, found on her iPad, shows she was furious and distraught over contracting sexually transmitted diseases from Carrey, according to the family.

Subsequent to finding the alleged note on Cat White’s iPad, Burton and Sweetman amended their complaint a few days after its original filing to allege that Carrey also gave White three STDs without informing her of the danger of transmission. According to the complaint, when White confronted Carrey about it, the comedian “manipulated her, shamed her, exploited her, threatened her, and used his handlers and attorneys to silence her.” Carrey has denied the allegations.

In the court of public opinion, Carrey may be joining the herpes club with Usher, another celebrity accused of transmitting herpes.
