October is Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness Month. And, unfortunately, domestic violence occurs every day. LaShonda Childs, a 17-year-old Ohio girl, was killed by a 28-year-old ex-boyfriend who would not take no for an answer. The harassment was so bad, LaShonda Childs posted on Facebook, 'I Ain't Even Safe In My Own House,' as he became more violent even after she filed for a protective order.

WHAT’S POPPIN’ – CARDI B

Rapper Cardi B reported to the New York City police after a brawl occurred at a strip club where her husband, Offset's group, Migos, was performing and two women were injured, one was suspected of having an affair with Cardi's husband. Cardi was charged with two misdemeanors, assault, and reckless endangerment, she had a mug shot taken and was fingerprinted, according to TMZ.

Pop singer Taylor Swift, who has shied away from being vocal about politics and civic action, decided to step out front and center. She informed her fellow Tennesseans on social media how to register to vote, which sparked record numbers of new voter registrations.

Beyonce and Jay-Z Give $100,000 College Scholarships to 11 Students

The BeyGOOD scholarships will be a life-altering opportunity for these young scholars

While on the OTR II Tour, Beyoncé and Jay-Z (through BeyGOOD and the Shawn Carter Foundation) announced a new scholarship program to award one exceptional senior high school student with financial needs in the remaining US markets along the tour.

Each recipient will have $100K put toward their enrollment and the award will serve as a dedicated university-based fund for each selected student throughout the duration of their enrollment.

Working with the Boys and Girls Club of America, the power couple has brought the possibility of a brighter future for a scholar in each of these OTR II markets: Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara, and Seattle.

 

 

Caribbean Next Top Model Contestant Forced to Straighten Her Hair [VIDEO]

VIDEO Discussion: A Caribbean Next Top Model contestant wants an apology from Wendy Fitzwilliam

Gabriella Bernard, a Trinidadian contestant on Caribbean's Next Top Model, found herself in a cultural dilemma when she was asked to chemically straighten her hair for a model makeover.

Ms. Bernard protested the need to chemically straighten her hair, but nonetheless, she relented to the demands of the CNTM producer, Wendy Fitzwilliam, whose position was straighten the hair or leave the show.

Ms. Bernard said she decided to straighten her hair because she felt she had come so far and if she had stopped at that point, she would never know what the outcome would have been for her on the show.

As it turned out, Ms. Bernard did not become the Caribbean Next Top Model. However, her natural hair is back and she did get to produce a documentary about her natural hair journey. She also wants an apology from the Caribbean Next Top Model producer, Wendy Fitzwilliam.
